Aim: To learn about a saturated solution and how to make crystals

Definition of the solution: 

A liquid mixture, when something is dissolved into a liquid (eg: sugar in water)

Definition of saturated: 

Having or holding as much as can be absorbed of something (when no more sugar or borax can be dissolved into the water)

In groups of three, you will make three different types of crystals and compare the results.

Borax Crystals

Materials

1)  Tsp of Borax

2) Half of cup Boiling water

3) Pipe cleaner

4) Pegs

5) Spoon

6) Container

Process

Step 1:  Put 1/3 of borax in the container

Step 2: Put hot water in the container but don't put too much. 

Step 3: Get a spoon

Step 4: Make a star shape out of the pipe cleaner

Step 5: Put the star at the top of the hot water.

Step 6: Mixed it with the spoon
Step 7: Put it in a safe place where no one can touch it.

Sugar Crystals

Materials

1) Tsp of Sugar 

2)  Half of cup Hot water

3) Container

4) Spoon 

5) Pegs

6) pipe cleaner

Process

Step 1: Put the sugar in the container

Step 2: Put 1/3 of hot water

Step 3: Mix it 

Step 4: Grab 1 pipe cleaner and put it on the pegs

Step 5: Put the pegs with the pipe cleaner in the top of the container

Step 6: Mix it 
Step 7: Put it on to a safe place

Salt Crystals

Materials

1)  Tsp Salt

2) Half of cup Hot water

3) Container

4) Pipe cleaner

5) Pegs

6) Spoon

Process

Step 1: put 1/3 of hot water.

Step 2: Put 1 tablespoon of salt.

Step 3: Grab 1 pipe cleaner and put it on the pegs.

Step 4: Put the pegs in the top of the container.

Step 5: Mixed it accordingly.

Step 6: Time to put it in the cart.

What crystals worked out best and why?: The Borax was the best crystal because it was mixed the best, the sugar should be better but sadly we did not mix it properly.
