Cupcakes! (Home Economics)

Last Tuesday our task in home economics was to make a cupcake and do the icing on Friday. When we were making the cupcake we were all working hard together to make a tasty cupcake. Once we finish making the cupcake we then wait for 3 days to do the icing. Our cupcake turns out good and it tastes delicious.

Here is the direction:

  1. Cream margarine in a large bowl. Use a wooden spoon.
  2. Add sugar and continue creaming until light and fluffy in texture.
  3. Add vanilla essence and beat briefly.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after you have added each egg.
  5. Sift flour and baking powder onto a large plate.
  6. Using a rubber scraper, scrape all the mixture off the wooden spoon.
  7. Add 1/3 sifted flour/ baking powder mix and fold in half the milk using the rubber scraper.
  8. Repeat step 7 for the next 1/3 flour mix and the rest of the milk. Do not overmix.
  9. Add the last of the flour and gently fold this into the cake batter.
  10. Carefully spoon cake batter evenly into 12 paper cases.
  11. Bake at 180oc for 7 min then turn oven to Fan Bake for a further 6-8 min

How to do the Icing:

  • Cream together margarine, icing sugar and flavoring.
  • Spread icing onto cooled cupcakes and decorate with sprinkles if available.
  • 50 g Margarine/ Butter.
  • 100 g - 150 g Icing Sugar.
  • Flavoring (Essence)

  • Don't forget to:

    • To preheat oven
    • Measure all ingredients accurately
    • Gently fold in flour/ baking powder (dry ingredients) alternately with the milk
    • Do not over mix the cake batter
    • Put the paper cases into cupcake or muffin tins before spooning in the cake batter

    Here is our cupcake process:

    Health- Mental Well Being

In the past few weeks in health what we are doing is mostly to understand how the 4 sides of Te whare tapa wha work. But the main focus last week that we did was our Mental well being. We were told to choose the following topic to study, the first topic was Stress, Depression, 5 ways to wellbeing and Getting help.

I chose to do Stress because I think that stress is the most common thing that people can have. Many people are stress because when they face a challenge or threat, they have a partly physical response to it. My teacher gave us a question to answer and  research a little bit about it, my answer is all in the slide.

    Wananga Barbeque

Yesterday the 12th of March, our school have an event (Wanga Barbeque). It was so awesome and fun yesterday, some of the parents came along to watch the performance that some of the Kahui prepared. The Filipino Youth group and the Pacifica Politest had also prepared a performance to show. I was on the Filipino Youth Group, we practice about almost four weeks before the event started. All of us show commitment by practicing every home time.

I showed Achievement by performing in a big crowd and trying my best to not be shy. I think that all of us that were in The Filipino dance had an enjoyable time. Practicing every home time was worth it because we've learned the dance that we were going to perform.

At the first practice that we did none of us didn't actually know the dance, so what we did was we keep practicing the dance to learn every movement of it. That how we show resilience.

I show respect yesterday by cheering the other kahui and the Pacifica politest performance. Yesterday was such fun because after performing the dance, the school provided us a sausage barbeque. That was so "Yummy". That is how I show the CARR values yesterday at school and I am willing to wait for next year again.

Last week our task was to make a bar graph for the Alaska tsunami. When we were making our bar graph we have to put the F.A.C.K.T.S on it. F.A.C.K.T.S mean Frame, Arow, Colour, Key, Title, Scale.

Here is the bar graph that I made:

    Fake or Real friends

Today on health, we have been set a task if what is a real friend and what is not a real friend. So my class made a slide about what are they all about. We put all the things that we thought about what are a real friend and what is not in one slide. This is also related to taha whanau.

Here are some of the example of it:

    Athletics Day 2020

Yesterday was the whole school athletics day, it was so fun and enjoyable. On athletics day social people were told to go on their first and second periods first because the people who were doing the competitive need to do their event earlier. Some of the events that I did is Discus, shot put, and 60 meters sprint, all the people who try the event get a house point for there house. The way I participate in our athletics is I just used all our carr values in school. Which is Commitment, Achievement, resilience, and respect. I show respect by not only cheering my friend but others too.  I show respect by taking part in all events. I show commitment by doing all the events. I show resilience by not giving up.

    What is social?
    Image result for athletics
Social is just people taking part in the event but there score doesn't get measured. If you fail in your event it will not matter because they don't count your score. The way social work is if you try the event you will get points for your house.

    What is competitive?
Competitive our people who do the event and get measured, if you are in competitive you have to really try your best to go-to the zone. ( You will be put to the zone if you make it to 1st, 2nd or 3rd) It doesn't matter if you don't make it, at least you try your best.

My goal for next year is to join competitive because I have been doing social for 3 years now, I wanted to try new things to show my commitment and resilience.

    Spritual wellbeing

Kamusta,  Every Tuesday and Friday we have a well-being subject.  Today's task is what spiritual wellbeing is all about. If you don't know what it is all about, I'm gonna tell you. Spiritual wellbeing means the ability to encounter and integrate interest and purpose in life within a person's connectedness with self, others art, song, history, environment, or power more glorious than oneself. If you want to to be spiritually well will mean a positive engagement with others, personal and our surroundings.

Why is it important to show kindness?

Image result for well beingKindness is one of the best things you can ever give to other people. If you give kindness to them your feeling will start to feel happy. Kindness is like receiving a special gift from other people. The more you give kindness the better the world will be. If you keep giving kindness to others that will spread and someday there will be no more bad things that will happen in our world. Showing kindness to others is just as fulfilling as collecting it from someone else. Kindness is very important because it gathers people together to be peaceful and respectful. That why always show kindness everywhere you go.
