What subject would I like to learn in school that isn't offered At HHS.(Hornby High School)

This Wednesday on writing we have been set a task by Miss Birtch, the task that she gave us is what subject would we want to learn that is isn't here in school. The subject that I would like to learn here in school is engineering, I chose to do engineer because when I grow up I would like to build my family a house. Why? I want to learn engineering is because when I and my cousin grows up he would like to become an engineer also, so if he chose that job we can help each other if we need help. 

(Food technology)- Making cookies

Today in technology (Food tech) we have been assigned to make a cookie. The cookie that we made was crispy outside and soft inside. The cookie that we did taste really yum.

Ingredient:
1. Butter
2.baking powder
3.. flour
4. Vanilla esens
5.Chocolate chips
6.Sugar

The cookie that we made look the same as in the picture, my team-work really well working together. I am hoping to keep working the same that we did this Friday.

If I would go on a holiday I would like to go to Canada, Canada is one of the greatest countries in the world for me. I would like to go to Canada because I would like to see the snow falling from the sky when it's Christmas time. Also, I would like to see some of Canada's prettiest lakes in the world. Did you know that Canada has more lakes than the rest of the world's lake combined? 

If I went to Canada I would like to try Butter tart because it looks very tasty and sweet. If you don't know what a Butter Tart is, it is a small pastry type regarded in Canadian cuisine and considered one of Canada's quintessential treats. Trust me it looked yummy!!. 

I will tell you 5 facts about Canada,
1. License plates in the Canadian Northwest Territories are shaped like polar bears.
2. Canada had the largest coastline in the world.
3. In Newfoundland, Canada, the Atlantic Ocean sometimes freezes so people play hockey on it.
4. In Canada, every Christmas 1 million letters are addressed to Santa Claus.
5. Did you know the mall of America is owned by Canada.

When I grow up I would really like to go to Canada, I will try to invite some of my friends so that It will be a fun and an enjoyable vacation. 

Ki o Rahi

This term we have been focusing on a game called Ki o Rahi, Ki o Rahi has a really serious story to it. If you don't know what a Ki o Rahi is, it is a game that was playing old-time ago, but the game is still popular. The game is mixed with the sport of rugby touch and netball. Ki o Rahi is played by two teams one of them is called the taniwha, and the other one is called the Ki o Ma. If you want to play Ki O Rahi you should be in a field or in a big space, because some of the equipment is big. Ki O Rahi is a game that I think most of the people will enjoy playing, you need to have a lot of players to score because it needs to have teamwork.

Year 7/8 sports competition,

At the start of term 4, we have been chosen to compete with another school. The sport that we have to compete in was basketball, on Monday and Tuesday we did not need to  do our work because we have to live early, we arrive at pioneer at about 9, when we arrive there me and my team, saw another school, some of them were really tall but I did not care because my teammate was also tall.  When I first step in the pioneering court, I was really amazed because there were 3 courts in one building, so that means there are 6 hoops in total.

In the first game that we have, we won 3 games in a row but then in our next game, we lost because I think all of us were so tired that all our energy was gone. After we took a rest we then play our last game for the day. Subsequent to that day we played the same sports however in this case we played 7 games. All the same routine except that we won 2 games and lost te remaining.

I enjoyed playing that tournement and I hope Next year we play another tournament again. Well done to all my team, Hope to see them again next year.

Food Tech

This term we have had many lessons in our technology subject, We had made so many meals dishes like sushi and burgers, but today we have made a special dish it is called the apple turnovers. Apple turnover is like a shape of a triangle, the inside of it is very sweet because it has apple and sugar on it. 

The ingredients that you need are sugar, cinnamon, eggs, a sheet of puff pastry and ofcourse the apple. It is kinda stressing to make apple turnover but in the end it doesn't matter anymore because you have to enjoy it. 

How to make Apple turnovers:

1. You have to lay the puff pastry to a clean table make sure that your table is really clean. 

2. Put the apple close to the edge of your puff pastry, but not to close so that it is not hard to unite.

3. Grab the other side of the pastry then close it, once you have done that you have to make a mark at side of your pastry. Try using a fork so that is easier to make a mark on it. 

4. Poke a hole with a fork at the top of your apple turnovers, then spread the egg wash at the top of it.

5. Put it in the oven for about 20 minutes, then after that enjoyed your Apple turnover.

Making Apple turnover is really fun and hard at the same time, to make Apple turnovers you have to be really fast because you need to make the pastry still cold. Even though we have to work fast that doesn't mean we have bad time making that, I think most of us have enjoyed making that dish and I am hoping for more.

Making Our Own Game!

This week in P.E we were required to make our own games, my friends and I were separated into 6 groups, our teacher gave us different items to make a game. The other team in front of us has the same equipment as us, but they have to make their own game.  The equipment that we've got is a 1 rugby ball, and 1 hula hoops, it was hard to make a game out of that but luckily one of my teammates got a good idea.

At first we were like lost because we were not really sure what to do, so what we did was we keep thinking of a game to make. After a few minutes we have thought of a game that we can play. 

The game that we made was like rugby touch but with a twist to it, to score you have to touch the hula hoop. The other team will kick the ball then when they catch it they're the team will move 2 steps. They need to get closer to the hula hoops so that they can score.

 I think that my team and I did really well making our own game because we help each other to make a game. Even though at the start we were lost that doese'nt matter anymore because we had made a fun game and I think all of us have fun playing it.
