This week on social study our teacher gave as a task that we needed to do. The task that was given to me is a blog about a parihaka song. We were given 9 questions which are listed down below.
What is the main message of this song? The message of this song is about Parihaka and how Te Whiti will never be defeated at the darkest hour.
What line explains their passive distance method? I know Te Whiti will never be defeated, And even at the darkest hour.
What does' you can't pull out the roots' refer to? You can't pull out the roots refer to how they were separated when Parihaka was happening. And those people who got arrested to get the land of Maori.
Give evidence of their determination? Come to Parihaka, Weep for my lost brother, The spirit of nonviolence, Has come to fill the silence, Come to Parihaka.
How does this song show the significance of Parihaka? This song shows the importance of parihaka by saying that "I know Te Whiti will never be defeated, And even at the darkest hour".
What makes an event significant? An event is important because you can remember those people that make the country better. It reminds you that, that day there was freedom.
How many people are affected? It's about 1600 troops who have overrun the Western Taranaki settlement of Parihaka, to symbolize the peaceful fight to the Maori land.
How long were people affected? People were affected for about 16 months which is 1 year and 3 months.
To what extended people affected? What Maori did to claim the Parihaka is by staying there and talking with the British people that this is their land, after they went out of prison there land was claim for the Maori.
