This week on CIP (Comunity Impact Project)we are planning to go on a trip called Charlesworth reserve. Charlesworth reserve is parks and Gardens in Christchurch that is only 24 minutes away from our school. The government in New Zealand want us and other helper plants 1 billion trees in Charlesworth Reserve by 2028. If we don't have enough tree in the word the carbon dioxide will stay on earth, then when the carbon dioxide covers the earth, the earth will be hotter and soon many species will be extinct. Planting so many trees are also good for the native animals in New Zealand because they will have home and food to eat. Charlesworth is named after Captain William Charlesworth. Captain William Charlesworth was born in Yorkshire, England in 1814. From an early age, William took to the sea and worked as the first mate on a boat named ‘The Brothers’ which traded around the Pacific and the Orient. After a few years, Charlesworth died because when he was helping cutting the tree the axe fall on his foot and to poison him very quickly. He was buried just five days later at the Woolston Cemetery
